External defibrillator or automated external defibrillator
AED is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses
the potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular
fibrillation. The location of a public access AED should take into
account where large groups of people gather, regardless of age or
activity. Children as well as adults may fall victim to sudden
cardiac arrest (SCA). Therefore, your AED should have AED
child pads. The Portable AED will instruct the user to
connect the AED pads to the patient. But it is recommended
that one should have AED training even though detailed instructions are
provided in the AED training manual that accompany all AED Units.
It is also recommended that to announce the location of an AED,
AED wall-signs should be posted. And further to safeguard the AED
units, these should be placed inside the automatic external
defibrillator cabinets. The AED prices vary by functionality
of the model and the manufacturer.
