Internet Connection Test portion of installation fails?

While the software is installing on the PC, it needs to test that there is an Internet connection. A message like below will appear:

If you cannot get past this, please confirm that you can poll one of the following internet sites:

The software is designed to poll one of the above sites to confirm that an Internet connection is available. If the software comes back and states it cannot find the internet, contact your network folks to ensure that the proxy server you are going through can poll one of the above sites.

The software is testing the internet connection for the report that is generated at the end of updating a LIFEPAK AED. The report that the software generates is sent to Medtronic ERS — going to https://www.lifenetexchange.com, (port 433). This will inform Medtronic ERS of the devices that have been updated to the 2005 AHA Guideline

Minimum Requirements to Update Your Lifepak Express AED

Host Computer Needs:

Minimum Hardware Requirements:

  • PC with 700 megahertz or higher processor clock speed

  • 256 megabytes of RAM

  • 200 megabytes of available hard disk space

  • Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor

  • CD-ROM or DVD drive

  • Keyboard and mouse (or compatible pointing device)

  • LIFEPAK EXPRESS® AED: Available USB port or IrDA port

Software/System Requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Home Edition, with Service Pack 2

  • Internet connection

To check for Service Pack 2, right click on your My Computer icon on your desktop, click properties. This will show you the operation system and level of service packs installed.

The installation program will test your Internet connection prior to installing the software onto your computer. An active Internet connection is required. If you do not have an active Internet connection, you cannot install the update software onto your computer.

While the software is installing on the PC, it needs to test that there is an Internet connection. You will see a message similar to this:

Note: If there is no Internet connection, the software will not complete its installation and you will not be able to update your LIFEPAK 500 Devices.
