Philips FRx Infant/Child Key Item # 989803139311: The unique Infant/Child Key is used only with the FRx Defibrillator when treating an infant or child who is under 55 lbs or 8 years old. Once the Infant/Child Key is inserted, the FRx automatically reduces the defibrillation energy and provides voice and visual instructions and CPR coaching specifically geared for treatment of infants/children. Graphics on the key show proper pad placement for infants and children.

CPR COACHING — In its default configuration, the FRx AED provides basic verbal instructions for performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including hand placement, rescue breathing, compression depth and timing, provided by the FRx when the flashing blue i-button is pressed during the first 30 seconds of a patient care pause. If the Infant/Child Key Item # 989803139311 is inserted in the FRx, the CPR Coaching provided will be for infant/child CPR.

The FRx AED does not require special pediatric pads for treating children under 55 pounds (25 kg) or less than 8 years old. If you may need to defibrillate an infant or a child in this age/weight range, it is recommended that you order the Infant/Child Key accessory, available separately. When the Infant/Child Key is inserted in the FRx, the FRx automatically reduces the defibrillation energy to 50 joules and, if optional CPR Coaching is selected, provides coaching appropriate for infants and children.

They eliminate the expense of having to purchase different sets of pads for different patient types. SMART Pads II enable the FRx to keep pace with responders by adjusting to their actions.

Philips HeartStart FRx AED SMART Pads save valuable time in an emergency with pads that can be used on adults, children and infants. SMART Pads II eliminate the expense of having to purchase different pads sets for different patient types. These pre-connected pads are packaged in a semi-rigid pads case for added protection, and are equipped with a HeartStart compatible plug for easy hand-off to Philips ALS defibrillators and to competitive defibrillators with adapters. For patients less than 8 years old or 55 lbs (25 kg), use the infant/child key, if available.

Basic Considerations for safe storage and use of Philips HeartStart FRx AED SMART Pads

Open the SMART Pads II package and take out the Pads Case. Do not open the pads case until you need to use the pads in an emergency. Plug the pads cable connector into the connector port on the Philips FRx AED. Store the unopened Pads Case in the pocket provided in the defibrillator carry case.

We recommend that you always Keep a spare SMART Pads II cartridge and other accessories with the defibrillator – in the carry case – for quick access when needed. NOTE: Always store the FRx with a set of SMART Pads II

connected and a battery installed, so it will be ready to use. As long as a battery is installed and a set of SMART Pads II is connected, turning the FRx “off” puts it into standby mode, which means that it is ready for use. NOTE: After the EMS/rescue team removes the SMART Pads II from the patient, remove the Infant/Child Key, if used, and install a new pads set before returning the FRx to service, to be sure it is ready for use.
