Automated External Defibrillator Essentials©: LIFEPAK EXPRESS  defibrillator AEDS are portable electronic devices that automatically diagnose the potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation.   With the LIFEPAK EXPRESS you assess the person in sudden cardiac arrest, then open the device and apply the electrodes.   The device analyzes the heart’s rhythm and tells you to push a button (the LIFEPAK EXPRESS defibrillator has a highly visible shock button if the heart needs a shock.   It is that simple.
The semiautomatic model evaluates the heart rhythm but requires the responder to press the shock button if a shockable rhythm is detected. The LIFEPAK EXPRESS unit has voice instructions that guide the responder through the defibrillation process. The LIFEPAK EXPRESS defibrillator arrives with an installed CHARGE-PAK battery charger, one pre-connected QUIK-PAK™electrode packet, Operating Instructions For LIFEPAK EXPRESS and LIFEPAK EXPRESS Quick reference Card Guide. The location of LIFEPAK EXPRESS should take into account where large groups of people gather, regardless of age or activity. The defibrillator should be easy to reach. This could include a location near existing emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers and first-aid kits. Children aswell as adults may fall victim to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).  Therefore, your LIFEPAK EXPRESS should have LIFEPAK EXPRESS Infant/Child Reduced Energy Defibrillation Electrodes.  The LIFEPAKEXPRESS will instruct the user to attach the LIFEPAK EXPRESS  Electrode pads to the patient.  But it is recommended that one must go through the Orientation Video For LIFEPAK EXPRESS and should have LIFEPAK EXPRESS Training using LIFEPAK CR trainer.  And as a backup, the storage place must have a spare LIFEPAK EXPRESS  Electrode pads.  To safeguard the AED units, these should be placed inside the LIFEPAK EXPRESS cabinets.   The LIFEPAK EXPRESS prices vary by functionality. The LIFEPAK EXPRESS® AED from Medtronic Physio-Control is designed to be used by the first person to respond to a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) victim – easily, safely, and effectively. Although not everyone can be saved from sudden cardiac arrest, studies show that early defibrillation can dramatically improve survival rates. And because some people are more difficult to defibrillate than others – and may need more than 200J – the LIFEPAK EXPRESS AED has the capability to escalate energy up to an industry-leading 360J.

For many years, defibrillators have been used only by medical professionals to treat victims in sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Today, the ability of defibrillators to save lives is so widely recognized that people once trained to do only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can now use defibrillators. After electrode pads are applied to the victim’s chest, the LIFEPAK EXPRESS analyzes the victim’s heart rhythm. If a shockable rhythm is detected, the LIFEPAK EXPRESS will either deliver an intense pulse of electricity (shock) to the heart muscle (fully automatic model) or direct the responder to deliver the shock (semiautomatic model).
